Before you start your shift, these simple tests will check for you that your newly installed call button is working properly and will reach the correct receiver.
Check the Confirmation Signal
Check the Confirmation Signal – Look for an LED Flash, Beep or Confirmation on the Pager Display. Check the device manual for what the device will do when a successful pair has been completed. A non paired unit will do nothing.
Test at Real Working Distance
Wireless call buttons are often used to remotely call for assistance from other areas of a building or over thick walls. So test the wireless call button at the furthest point it will be used. Arm’s length from the receiver is not far enough as signals can penetrate through walls and interfere with other wireless devices.
Confirm Only the Right Receiver Responds
Check that only the intended recipient responds. See how product conformity standards apply to electronic devices generally and in particular how specified behaviour of the product before it is put into service is covered.
Re-pair Cleanly When the Link Drops
If the call button loses its wireless pairing then both the wireless call button and the wireless receiver must be totally reset and then re-paired. For Wireless Call Buttons, see dinggly.com/us/products/wireless-call-buttons/.
Watch for Intermittent Drops After Pairing
Intermittent loss of connection after apparent pairing can be due to nearby interference from other wireless devices or indeed from the other end (e.g. a wireless voice paging station) having low batteries.
By performing these tests before the service starts you will avoid one of the biggest headaches in care, a faulty wireless call button at the worst time.
