Solar reflectivity is actually a type of roof coating that was created by NASA to help protect the space station astronauts from solar reflectivity. This reflective roof coating actually works – it reflects up to 90% of sunlight so that the astronauts have a warm and comfortable environment while they are working inside the space station.

In order to get the full benefits of solar reflectivity, you would have to apply a thick coating of the material to the roof itself. Although applying the coating to your own roof is not necessary, there are benefits to trying to prevent any future roof damage or leaks by doing so.
