There is a lot to focus on when moving house, and once you are out of your old home, it doesn’t stop there – here are four things to think about when you get into your new house…

Get essential items ready for the first couple of days and nights – When you first move in, it can be difficult to find everything that you want to begin with. It is a good idea to have a bag or a couple of boxes that you keep to one side that are full of the things that you need to see you through whilst unpacking – from chargers to changes of clothes, and a toothbrush!

Focus on Security – You won’t want your new home to be unsafe, and something that many people recommend when you move into a new home is to change the locks. This means that you will be safe in the knowledge that nobody else has a key to your home. You can also make the house safe for those that live there if needed, especially children and animals. Go through the house and check that it is safe and secure, both inside and out.

Arrange the facilities – Make sure that you contact gas and electric suppliers, as well as the local water company when you first move in. They can then arrange to take a meter reading. You can also shop around for different energy companies if you want to. As well as this, arrange to have other facilities like cable television and broadband put in if you want it. Before doing this, contact someone like this TV aerial installation Gloucester based company https://steveunettaerials.co.uk/ to check that you have the right aerial and that it is working correctly.

Change your address – It is a good idea to have a list of all the places that you need to change your address with. When you have covered them all, go through it and let them know that you have moved. It is also beneficial to use the redirection service provided by the Royal Mail, as this will give you peace of mind that your post will still get to you if you have missed anyone off the list!
