Oily Fish – Fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel are a great way to get omega 3 into your diet. Around two portions per week is considered to be enough to ensure that you are getting plenty of omega 3. Ensure that the fish you buy comes from sustainable sources, as overfishing is a problem, and causes huge ecological issues. If you prefer, you can take omega 3 in tablet form as a supplement if you are not keen on eating fish.

Plants – Fruit and Vegetables – Aiming to eat at least five portions of different fruits and vegetables each day is a great way to ensure that you are getting the right nutrients that you need, not just for your heart but for your body as a whole. A good way to do this is to drink smoothies. There are lots of great smoothie recipes online and this is a great way to get at least five into you in one drink. Changing the things that you include means that you are going to be able to get a range of different nutrients and vitamins into your diet.
