Throws are a great way to add some style and comfort to any space and not only can you buy them from some wonderful stores but you can also make some of them at home for yourself. There are different ways that you can create throws and the option that you choose will depend on what your personal preferences are and whether you have any particular style needs.

Knitting – if you like to knit or if it is a craft that you have thought about trying you can make some wonderful throws using yarn and two needles. If you are unsure of how to get started you can look to get a Knitting Kit like the ones available at https://www.woolcouturecompany.com/collections/knitting-kits. These kits will provide you with all the materials and instructions that you need to work your way steadily to a beautiful end product.

Quilting – if you prefer to have a throw that is made from material rather than yarn, you can create one by quilting. This requires cutting a number of squares or hexagons of material in your chosen material colours and patterns. These individual pieces of material are then sewn together in a pattern. Once you have sewn them all together you can then back the quilt with batting and basting materials and then add a piece of material for the back.

Fleece – if you like the idea of a material throw but don’t want to sew together lots of different pieces of material you might like to look at using fleece as an alternative. Fleece can be cut in metre-long lengths and can then be sewn in long strips to make a beautiful fleece throw.

The type of throw that you choose will depend very much on your personal preference as well as what your end use is going to be. If you are looking for something that will lie on your sofa or across your bed as a decorative item, you might want to look at knitted or crocheted options. If however, you’re looking for something that you can use to keep you warm or gift to a friend you may want to look at quilted options instead.
