Here are a number of skills that you might want to focus on developing.

Communication skills – it is important that you develop strong communication skills if you wish to work as a trainer. You will be sharing knowledge and information with your customers and you will need to share these in a clear and articulate manner. There are lots of ways you can practise your communication skills and in some cases taking the time out to rehearse your training sessions is a great way to start.

Adaptability – in order to be a great trainer, you will need to be adaptable. This means being able to adapt your teaching style to meet the needs of the different participants that you have in your sessions. In some cases, you might have to support some individuals who have special learning requirements. You may need to adapt the pace of your sessions, the ways in which you share the information and provide an option for additional support.

Organisational skills – it is incredibly important that you organised when it comes to being a trainer. You will need to ensure that you have all your materials ready for sharing with your learners as well as scheduling your training and planning in any time that you might need for feeding back on your learners work.
