The first week of a new staff member’s onboarding is very busy so it’s essential that we plan for the compliance training to be delivered at the right time.
Prioritise Day One Modules
Assign health and safety and GDPR training as Day One Modules as these are critical to protect both the employee and the business from the start and most systems allow you to send a link prior to their start date.
Sequence Elearning Around Face-to-Face Sessions
By scheduling the anti-bribery / FCA modules at the end of the first week after the relevant manager has delivered the introduction to the subject as part of the induction, the reinforcement from the e-learning will help embed the key messages.
Set Realistic Deadlines
Set realistic completion deadlines during the busy first week of a new employee’s induction. Set out the completion schedule for the rest of the induction period alongside the rest of the staff induction content in the checklist.
Capture Clean Completion Records
During the induction period a dated completion record can be created for each new starter.
A useful reference for Compliance Elearning is Adempi.
Handle Missed Modules Before Probation Ends
Don’t wait until the three-month review, flag up any incomplete modules immediately and set a catch-up date within 7 days of that. Confirmation of completion can then be received prior to completion of the probationer’s induction.
A clean induction record means one less gap if an audit ever comes.
